Utility Services · LADWP · Service Guide & Timeline Calculator
The LADWP undergrounding process, mapped to the day.
Pick a service type to generate its full sequence as an interactive schedule — who owns each step, how long it typically takes, and when your parcel can realistically be energized. Update task statuses as your project moves and export the report for your GC or lender.

Timelines reflect typical LADWP sequences. Decision Construction manages this entire path on your behalf — ask us to run it.

Customer tasks{{ metricCustomer }}you or your contractor
Contact the appropriate LADWP service planning office early — before civil design is locked.
Submit the Service Planning Information sheet, electrical plans, and site plans together.
LADWP responds with construction drawings or serving-pole confirmation, which drive your conduit and substructure scope.
Fees & charges: full payment is required before LADWP starts construction — budget it on the critical path, not as a closeout item.
Permits & inspections, in order:
Customer obtains the electrical permit.
Site wiring completed and inspected; final release issued to LADWP.
LADWP facilities inspected; corrections approved.
Service is energized only after both LADWP and the permitting agency clear.
Changes in load: notify LADWP in writing — undeclared load growth is a common cause of redesign.
Motors: specific limits apply to single-phase; three-phase above 5 hp is generally supplied.
Lighting: gaseous tube fixtures of 15W and above need 90% power-factor correction.
This is the timeline. We're the ones who compress it.
Every week saved on the utility path is a week off your rebuild. We run the applications, the design reviews, the inspections, and the energization — so the schedule above becomes our problem, not yours.
